About Us
The Lake Scugog Historical Society (LSHS) is dedicated to gathering, preserving, and promoting the diverse heritage of Scugog Township. Established by local citizens in 1969, we have championed the preservation of historically significant buildings, cemeteries, and sites throughout our community for more than half a century.
Operated by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors, LSHS remains an independent, not-for-profit organization and a proud member of the Ontario Historical Society. Through our collections, events, and publications, we strive to connect past and present—celebrating the stories and spirit that make Scugog unique.

How We Preserve & Share Local History
Archival Treasures
We maintain more than 50 years’ worth of Port Perry Star newspapers, now digitized, along with an extensive archive of original negatives dating back to the late 1960s.
Publications
We publish books and articles that explore the people, places, and events that have shaped our region.
Engaging Programs
From our annual Speaker Series and Historical Walks to the Antique & Nostalgia Show, we bring history to the community and encourage active participation.
Advocacy
We continue to support efforts to preserve historical structures, cemeteries, and commemorative markers, ensuring that Scugog’s stories endure for future generations.
